Vigilant does not discourage our members from having alts. However you choose to enjoy yourself in the game is fine, but we have policies regarding what content alts are allowed to attend.

There are a few key things to remember about alts:

1) They are held to the same standards as mains are. If they are not geared for the content and/or cannot fill the needed role adequately they will not be allowed to attend that raid.

2) Alts are allowed to attend non-progression raids with mains, but if an item is an upgrade to the main, it goes to the main. Loot precedence would be as follows: MS (main) > SS (main) > MS (alt) > SS (alt) > OS (rolls). The only situation where this would be different is if an alt has been requested to attend a run in place of a main to fill a needed raid role. Then, in that situation, the alt is considered a main, and allowed to roll on MS upgrades on equal footing with other mains. We do this to reward the person who agreed to not bring their main and instead bring a needed class so the raid could succeed.

3) When you apply to the guild, we are assuming the character you are applying with is your main. Do not apply with an alt and expect to change your main when you 'get settled' here.

4) You have the ability to change mains if you wish, but there are conditions. Your alt (that you wish to change to your main) must be equally geared as your main currently is. This is to ensure that the time that has been invested in getting your current main the gear he/she has will not be wasted time from the guild's time invested in raids standpoint. Additionally, you cannot switch mains for 6 months after either joining the guild, or since you've switched mains last. Main switching is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, if we feel that the guild is being farmed for loot for your alts you will probably not be extended an invitation for a raid.

5) Alts in progression raids. Do not ask (or sign up) with your alt for a progression raid. You will not be taken. If the content is still difficult for our mains, it will not be made any easier if you are bringing an alt. There may be alt progression runs scheduled from time to time, but they will be noted specifically on the calendar as Alt Runs. If you choose to attend these, please make sure that your alt is geared and able to fill the needed role before expecting to go. There may be special exceptions where an alt is requested to be brought to fill a particular raid role that is needed. These are rare, but may arise.

6) Alts running progression raids with other guilds. Honestly, we don't care if you do this or not as long as your raiding with your alt does not prevent you from attending the raids you are needed for with your main.
